New Information

I was looking at the stats for this website today and it seems as though, on average, 30 people visit the website daily. This is a little surprising to me, since I haven't really updated the content all too frequently. However, it tells me that some people are finding value in what is written here.

I have had an internal debate about what I want to do with this blog. Do I want to just leave it alone and post occasionally (when the mood strikes or an email I receive asks a particular question)? Do I want to make a concerted effort to post more material pertaining to taking the exam? Do I want to work on more exam preparation material?

For me, answering these questions comes down to (1) the service this blog is providing for others and (2) a cost-benefit analysis related to my time. I am writing my dissertation at the moment and that certainly takes up a majority of my time. I know I have asked this before and received a few responses from folks. However, I am asking for your help in determining the direction of this blog. Is what is here enough? Would you like to see more information, and what shape should that information take to be most helpful? The more you can help me understand how you use this blog, the better I can decide where to go in the future.

Thanks,

i just found this site today after googling lcsw test info, as i am eligible to petition the state this april to sit for the lcsw. i too appreciate the information of this site, as well, as to have a place to talk about this stupid test and how to get through it by hearing from others that have been through it. i guess the bottom line is that any info at this point helpful and very much appreciated. so thank you!

I would like to say that I have really appreciated the time and effort you have put into this blog. I am taking the LCSW test tommorrow and feel that your work has played a part. Of course I needed to study other items outside this but it was very useful. My ethics professor, Rick Reamer's book on ethics should be included into a part if you have the time. It can be easily translated into an outline.
Thanks

I am currently studying for my LCSW (1 week from saturday) and found this blog very helpful. I guess it depends on what you want to do. Some of us can't afford to buy all the books needed after we plop the 300+$$ for the exam. But, i am thankful for your blog.

I just found this blog today when I did a google search. THANK YOU SO MUCH for providing this invaluble tool. I am taking the exam on March 30th 09 so the material you have provided will really help me so that I can STUDY inconspiciously at work for a few minutes without having books spread across my desk!!

I've just passed the LICSW exam after taking it 4 times and have failed each time by 1-2 points. I now know what it is that will take you to that next level of passing if you were in the same situation I was in...for more info...e-mail me at fportis1@yahoo.com. BTW, my services are free but as more and more people pass due to my advice, I will begin charging...so take advantage while you can!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for this blog! I HAVE not EVEN finished reading everything and I am feeling a little better about the exam already. As someone has already said the prep courses and books are a bit expensive after 2 years of SW txtbook purchasing @ UMB , I implore you to kep this up and as you mentioned maybe an occassional post will be enough for people. I DO NOT think the exam will change SO much that you will need to constantly add too much. Anyway, if you remember how STRESSFUL a time it is right before this exam you will probably realize that ANY assistance is helpful. I will be sitting at the end of May 2009 at Howard University ACT Center...Ahhhhh-I am sooooooooo NERVOUS!

I will be sitting for the Clinical Exam (LISW) in Ohio soon (summer 2009). I stumbled across your site while doing a google search for ASWB Social Work Exam study materials. There are plenty out there AATBS, LEAP, Social Work Guide, SWES...all pricey. I am confused as to which to purchase. Anyone have any thoughts on that? This however, looks like a great place for additional information so please keep writing.

hi there. I have not failed the standard written exam in CA twice and will try again in dec of this year... I just found yr blog and think it is very helpful and hope that you will continue to update it with any current info you find on what types of questions the test will or is covering... perhaps some sample questions and fleshed-out ways to answer them based on yr experience would be helpful.. I am still trying to figure out what it is that I need to do to prepare.. I certainly know what does NOT work for me.. thank you for your time, care and generosity in sharing your process and resources.

small typo... "I have now failed", is what I meant to write... sorry!

I just came across this site for the first time today. I can echo the previous posts and say it is incredibly helpful. Of course, the direction you go in will depend on how available you are and whether you still have a passion for this. However, for those of us still preparing, I can say it would be GREAT if you could continue to post material, the more specific the better. The theory stuff is pretty complete - I would suggest expanding into study tips, strategies around answering questions, sample questions that you create to give us an idea, continuing reviews of study guides, more content summaries of sections other than theory. Once you finish your dissertation, you can make your millions by creating a real study guide that is actually helpful - imagine that! Thanks for all you do.

I think your site has been the most useful yet. I would like to see some additions of some psychopharm information.

Very helpful. Thank you for your time and thoughtfulness. Do you think there is an easy way to study for the medications and research section of the exam? I failed on my first attempt!

Wow! this information is so needed. Thanks for sharing and not charging as we have been nickeled and dimed enough. This blog is a way to share your passion and desire to help educate others and it is truly appreciated.
More LCSW Test information would be great. Test questions with explainations of the answer.

Thanks Again

I discovered this site a couple of months ago and I can't believe how helpful it has been. I have just received authorization to take the LCSW exam and am using this site exclusively to prepare. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to take free practice tests. The posts are also funny and useful, so keep it going and thank you.

Yes we are interested in the content. That is why I have found this blog after all this time.

I found the blog when googling to find some kind of "Licensure/research info for dummies" and other condensed types of material related to theory. There is little out there that makes a suitable study primer. This blog was very helpful to me. Thank you for taking the time to do it. You may want to consider composing a book related to this topic because most of the stuff out there is not user friendly or is just pure garbage. A user friendly manual would be wonderful.

I would like to know how the AASWB came to offer the same exam for all levels but requires different answers to each question in order to qualify at a particular level.

Does anyone else other than me think there is something wrong with that?

I took and passed the LCSW today...5/19/12! I found this site incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!!!!! I also found someone's comment on this blog very helpful. They wrote that it is important to remember this during the exam:
ENGAGE
INFORMATION GATHERING
ASSESSMENT
GOAL SETTING
INTERVENTION
EVALUATION
TERMINATION
Finally, I used an iPhone/pad app from Berkeley Training Associates. It was only $15. & really helpful. It allows you to take practice tests and provides great info. Wishing everyone great success!!!!!
